Huddersfield must do better - Wagner

Published on: 28 October 2018

Huddersfield boss David Wagner says his team must improve defensively if they are to start picking up points following Saturday's loss to Watford.

The Terriers sank to the foot of the Premier League table after their seventh loss of the season and they are 1/3 to be relegated this term.

The Yorkshire outfit were outclassed by Watford at Vicarage Road as goals from Roberto Pereyra, Gerard Deulofeu and Isaac Success saw the home side to a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Wagner says his team made too many mistakes at the back to warrant getting anything from the game and admits there is plenty of room for improvement.

Huddersfield last won a Premier League game in April and Wagner says it is the concentration levels of his players that must improve if they are to pick up three points when they take on fellow strugglers Fulham next Monday.

"We have to perform to collect points like we have done today," he told ky Sports. "Defensively it's difficult to get a clean sheet, and it's difficult to get a result, so this is why it makes sense that we have to be focused better on the performance and do better than we've done today.

"They tried and they worked. They really were on it today but we have to be honest that this was defensively not our level and so we have to make a further step in the right direction."

The Terries are 6/5 to get the better of Fulham next time out, while the Cottagers are 23/10 and the draw is 23/10.
