Hull City Boss Calls on Players to Improve as Battle Against Premier League Drop Hots Up

Marco Silva has called on his Hull side to improve if they harbour hopes of staying in the Premier League beyond the end of this season.

The Tigers fell to a 3-1 away defeat to reigning champions Leicester City on Saturday despite taking the lead through Sam Clucas, with the Humberside-based club missing chances in front of goal and giving away sloppy ones at the other end of the pitch.

In quotes published by the Hull Daily Mail, Silva remarked that he expected better from his players despite knowing full well how tough the match at the King Power Stadium would be.

He lamented: "Not a good result for us. Like I expect Leicester started strong and we try to answer at the same level and on the counter attacks we caused problems for them.

"After the reaction and the goal, I think in the first half the score is fair. But we started very well in the second half and we had a very good chance to score but it was a very good save from Kasper Schmeichel and it that point the game was very balanced.

"We react again well after the second goal, but we need to score to take good results for us."

@HullCity we didn't play well, Elmo was crap and the team don't seem bothered if we get relegated or not.

Silva criticised his first-team squad for their lack of intensity and pressing when out of possession, and said he believes that his charges need to wise up to the fact that they need to work just as hard without the ball if they are to battle successfull against the drop.

He added: "We need to put more pressure in these moments on the player with the ball but of course it is not easy now. I don't see on TV the goal but my feeling is we need more pressure.

"We need to improve our work and our games and this is our focus, we can only pick up points in our games."

Marco Silva has made more movement on the touchline than Markovic and Elmohamady combined today. Awful from the pair #LEIHUL #hcafc
