Hull City Midfielder Sam Clucas Set Remarkable Record Following Goal at Leicester City

Published on: 06 March 2017

Sam Clucas' goal at the King Power Stadium last Saturday may have been insignificant due to the eventual 3-1 scoreline in favour of the Foxes, but the Hull City midfielder will forever remember the strike due to an incredible statistic.

The 26-year-old has now scored in each of the five top tiers of English football in the last five seasons, with his goal in the Conference Premier five years ago starting this incredible run that has seen him register in each successive campaign moving up the levels.

Clucas was a regular goalscorer for Hereford United during the 2012/13 campaign outside of the Football League and was equally prolific the following year once he had moved to Mansfield Town in League Two.

His fine form warranted another move up the leagues, this time with League One side Chesterfield, for whom he scored nine times during the 2014/15 season.

Hull City then paid £1.3m for his signature the next summer and he found the net on six occasions as the Tigers were promoted from the Championship to the top flight, via the play offs.

Now, with his first Premier League secured, Clucas is the holder of this unbelievable record that illustrates the rapid rise that can occur to non-league players, which has been prominent of late thanks to the exploits of Jamie Vardy and Michail Antonio.

With his goal in the top flight now done, the former Lincoln City man may now be focused on scoring in the Champions League next season!!!
