I am still improving my knowledge about Ghana Premier League - Chris Hughton

Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton says he is still learning to know Ghana Premier League better.

Bechem United striker, Hafiz Konkoni remains the only local player in the Black Stars squad for the matchday five games against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Having trained with the team on Tuesday, Hughton speaking to the press reiterated that says Konkoni is one he “enjoys watching”.

Since being named head coach of Ghana’s national men’s football team, Hughton has been spotted at various league centres but admitted that he is still getting used to the Premier League.

“To be honest with you, I don’t know him- Hafiz- so well and my responsibility over this period of time is to know the league better. I have been trying to participate in as many games as I can and I will continue to do that and as I continue to do that I will get better knowledge of the league in general but probably more importantly for us, I will get better knowledge of individual players.”

Konkoni ended the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season with 15 goals.

The Black Stars will continue the preparations at the Accra Sports Stadium later today. Ghana will be hosted at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium in Antananarivo at 17:00GMT.
