Head coach for Accra Hearts of Oak Kim Grant has jumped to the defense of his players after their 1-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea on Match Week 1 of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

According to the tactician, his players cannot be faulted for the disappointing full-time result because they gave their all to try and win the game.

A Jonah Attuquaye strike in the first half separated the two sides at the end of the 90 minutes at the Accra Sports Stadium as Berekum Chelsea run away with all 3 points.

Addressing journalists at his post-match press conference, Hearts manager Kim Grant said; “We totally dominated the game but its football. The guys [Berekum Chelsea] caught us on the break, he cut inside, shot and it took a deflection and it went in. We did everything we could”.

He opines that his players played their hearts out on the day and hence cannot be blamed for the defeat.

“I can’t fault the guys, they did everything they could but that’s football and we have to move on to the next one and prepare for it”, the gaffer noted.

After the opening day defeat, Hearts of Oak is expected to travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC in a dicey fixture on Match Week 2 of the GPL.
