I can’t wait to get started – Mohammed Kudus after sealing West Ham United move

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus says he cannot wait to begin his West Ham United adventure after completing his switch to the Premier League club.

The Black Stars midfielder joins the Irons on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee, becoming the Club’s third major summer signing following his former Ajax teammate and Mexico international Edson Álvarez and England midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Despite refusing to disclose the transfer fee, it is said the Premier League outfit agreed on a € 43 million fee, which could increase to € 46 million through variables.

The 23-year-old arrived in London on Saturday to complete his move to the English outfit this summer. He penned a five-year deal with an option of a further 12 months, after completing his medical at the weekend.

The enterprising midfielder has been handed the number 14 jersey and is expected to play a huge role for the club.

“I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid,” said Kudus, who will wear the No14 shirt at West Ham.

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.

“I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kudus joined the Dutch giants in the summer of 2020, signing a five-year deal after switching from Danish club FC Nordsjælland.

The Ghana international made 87 appearances for Ajax’s first team and scored 27 goals.

At Ajax, Kudus won the Eredivisie twice (2021 and 2022), and won the Dutch Cup once (2021).
