Former Ghana head coach, CK Akonnor has shockingly revealed that he struggled to name his squad during his days with the Black Stars.

Akonnor, a former Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak gaffer replaced Kwesi Appiah in January 2020.

The former AshantiGold SC coach was awarded a two-year deal by the Kurt Okraku-led administration.

However, speaking in an interview, Akonnor revealed that he struggled to name his squad for assignment.

According to him, during his days, the national team was struggling which made it difficult for him to name his squad for the team.

"Black Stars at my time was struggling, the whole team was not stable, and sometimes when making call up you don't even know how many players to call," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

"At Black Stars, it was a different story and one day I will tell it," he added.

Akonnor was, however, sacked by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] in September 2021 after Ghana's defeat to South Africa during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

In 10 matches, he had a win rate of just 40%, having won four, lost four, and draw two.

He was subsequently replaced by Milovan Rajevac.
