Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards has lauded Arsenal for signing Ghana star, Thomas Partey.

The 27-year-old expected to sign a four year deal with the Gunners.

Arsenal triggered Partey's  £45m release clause on Monday morning.

The like of Manchester United, PSG, Inter Milan and Chelsea were all interested in the midfielder.

And according to the former English international, he was expecting clubs to fight Arsenal for the service of the midfielder.

He stressed that Partey is a good player and will surely improve Arsenal.

"Thomas Partey – what a signing. I cannot believe there are not more clubs lining up for him," Micah told the BBC.

"He is so good. A lot of people just think about him defensively, but he has actually got quite a bit going forward.

He has scored goals for the national team (Ghana) and a few for Atletico Madrid as well.

"If Arsenal can get him it would be a massive deal for them. Arsenal are doing their business quietly, but if they would be able to get Partey it would be a massive statement," he added.

Partey is currently in London and undergoing a medical.
