I have not been fair to the youth and Ghanaians – Asamoah Gyan explains decision to quit politics

 Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has explained his decision to abrogate his affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Gyan, who is the all-time topscorer for the Black Stars on Wednesday morning announced he is no more affiliated to any political party.

The former Black Stars skipper has been an active member of vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign this year, serving as the chairman of Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee.

In a statement released on X, formerly known as Twitter), the former Sunderland star admitted not being fair to the youth and Ghanaians at large for his involvement in politic.

However, he has announced no longer affiliated to any political party as he turns attention to humanitarian work and youth empowerment.

Meanwhile, the former Sunderland star has wished all parties a peaceful election in the on December 7.

The 38-year-old is the all-time topscorer for the Black Stars. He racked up 51 goals in 109 appearances for the West Africa powerhouse.

With six goals, he is the highest African scorer at the FIFA World Cup.
