The Scientific Soccer lads were relegated to the Division One League during the 2020/21 campaign.

However, the side are in a good position to make a return to the Ghana Premier League.

Liberty sit 2nd in Zone three of the Division One league with 61 points, one point behind the first-placed Kotoku Royals.

Sarpei, who played for their youth team in previous years, is rooting for them to return to the GPL

“Currently I don’t watch Liberty Professionals but they are 2nd on the Division One League [Zone 3] table and are one point above Tema Youth so my fingers are crossed. I am hoping for a promotion for Liberty Professionals. I am also hoping that Great Olympics will win on Sunday,” the FC Ingolstadt midfielder stated on TV3.

He added that Liberty Professionals opened a door for him abroad but he had to make a choice involving the Black Satellites.

"I got a call from the handler of Liberty Professionals U-20 then about a tournament where scouts will be around. I play in it and from that tournament, I got the opportunity to go to Italy.

“From that tournament, I received a callup to the U-20 team [when I was younger]. There was a decision to make between the national U-20 team and Italy. I had a meeting with coach Silas Tetteh, George Afriyie, and Mr. Ansong. All three said I should go to Italy but deep down in my heart I wanted to go with the U-20 national team. I later decided to go to Italy," he added.

Liberty Professionals will play their final league game on Sunday as they make the trip to Susubribi SC. A win and a slip-up from Kotoku Royals will guarantee a return to the Ghana Premier League.
