On-loan Çaykur Rizespor midfielder, Godfred Donsah has opened up on the influence Ghana great Stephen Appiah had on him while starting his career as a footballer.
Appiah, a former Black Stars captain is adored by all in his home country and enjoyed an illustrious playing career that saw him play for Italian Serie A giants Juventus.
According to Godfred Donsah, Stephen Appiah is one player he particularly looked up to and learned from as a young player.
“There were iconic players in the National Team such as Appiah, Essien, and Muntari. We took them as an example and tried to develop in this way. I also had the opportunity to meet Appiah in person,” the 24-year old said in an interview as quoted by bursahakimiyet.com.tr.
Godfred Donsah added, “He was a national team manager when I was called to the team. He was a very good person and a great football player. He will always be a player that I take as an example.”
Owned by the Italian side Bologna, Godfred Donsah still has a lot of years ahead of him to play. He has displayed tremendous talent in the past and hopes to hit top form during his stay at Çaykur Rizespor.
