Ghana and Crystal Palace forward, Jordan Ayew says he is enjoying playing under his surname despite the pressure that comes with it.

The former Aston Villa forward who is the son of the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele has come under a lot of criticism in recent months for his lack of goal-scoring form for his club and country.

Despite the backlash, the 30-year-old insists his family name only motivates him to work hard to make a name for himself.

“You have a lot of pressure in the country [Ghana] because the name Ayew is a big name and they have always seen very good Ayew players so there is always pressure to be on top,” he told SuperSport.

“I was born in pressure and I’m still living in pressure so for me, it’s a daily thing. It’s part of life and I’m enjoying it and I’m so proud," he added.

Jordan Ayew has scored 29 goals in the Premier League, the highest figure attained by a Ghanaian, and has scored 19 goals for the Ghana national team.

He has been named in Ghana's squad for the upcoming friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua later this month.

Jordan is also expected to make Ghana's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later in November.
