This was because of his involvement in area fights when they lose football matches and were fighting to the extent of using machetes, where he was wounded on his head.

“I waged war against other neighborhoods. For example, if we had a football match and lost or if there was a problem, we would fight,” he told French Ligue 1 in an interview.

“And if there were machetes, we would fight with them. One day, I was hit with a machete, but I was lucky not to die.

“I spent three to four months in the hospital. Fortunately, today, I've left that troublemaker side behind, and I'm a football player!”

Alidu Seidu has been a revelation since he joined Clermont Foot four years ago, gaining promotion to the French Ligue 1 in his first senior season in 2020/21.

He has been magnificent in the last three seasons in the French top flight, seeing him being linked to some of the top teams in Europe.
