I turned down Manchester United because I have unfinished business at Ajax – Brian Brobbey

Dutch-born attacker of Ghanaian descent, Brian Brobbey has opened up on why he turned down the chance to join Manchester United this summer.

The player became a subject of transfer talk last month when it came to light that new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag had reached out to him to join him in England.

However, Brian Brobbey decided to sign for Ajax, a team he left while working under ten Hag the previous season to join German Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig.

Speaking on his decision to return to Ajax, Brian Brobbey says it is because he has unfinished business.

"I absolutely wanted to go to Ajax. Erik also wanted to work with me, texted once if I was open to it, but I thanked him nicely. I wanted to go back. My friends here, Ajax's playing style, it just wasn't finished yet," Brian Brobbey told Voetbal International in an interview.

This summer, Ajax paid £13million to sign Brian Brobbey from RB Leipzig.
