Ghanaian international, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has revealed that he wanted to play for French Ligue 1 side Olympic Lyon before he opted to sign for Udinese.

The hardworking midfielder completed his transfer to the Udine-based club on 28 January 2010, on the back of a very outstanding campaign with the Ghana U-20 team at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup which was staged in Egypt.

Looking back to that time, Agyemang Badu who is now on loan at Hellas Veron has revealed that initially, it was his desire to move to France to play for Olympic Lyon.

“It was after the Under-20 World Cup. Initially, I wanted to go to Lyon: Essien, who was an idol for me, played there. Then the deal did not materialize and was made under Sampdoria, which made an insufficient offer.

"Then it was the turn of Udinese, which had an important history of Ghanaian players. My choice fell on the bianconeri for this reason, in 2010", the midfielder said in an interview as quoted by mondoudinese.it.

Agyemang Badu, 29, has stayed contracted with Udinese for the last decade and hs enjoyed some good moments as well.
