I was happy to see Samed Salis and Kudus Mohammed play at the World Cup - Majeed Ashimeru

Ghana midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru says he was excited to see Abdul Samed Salis and Kudus Mohammed play at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Despite the Black Stars' early exit from the tournament, Salis and Kudus earn applause from Ghanaian football fans due to their impressive performance.

Kudus, 23, netted twice against South Korea in the second Group H as the Black Stars recorded a 3-2 win.

Ashimeru who was left out of the final squad for the Mundial praised the performance of the duo and said he was happy to see them play.

"Seeing Samed Salis at the World Cup makes me happy because he is someone I always talk to every day and with Kudus (Mohammed), he is like a younger brother to me because we grew up in the same hood and me seeing them at the World Cup makes me happy," he told 3Sports.

The Anderlectch midfielder also shared that he was disappointed to be left out of the final squad for the tournament.

"The World Cup is the biggest football tournament in the world and every player wants to play the World Cup," he said.

"Personally, I felt bad for not playing at the World Cup but I also felt these are my guys and they need my support," he added.

Ghana however exited the tournament at the group phase with just three points having won just a game against South Korea but suffered defeats against Portugal and Uruguay.
