I wept when I saw the state of Essipong Stadium – Twifo Atti-Morkwa MP

Hon David Theophilus Vondee, MP for Twifo Atti-Morkwa Constituency, has claimed that he cried when he saw the sorry state of the Sekondi Essipong Stadium.

Earlier this week, videos again appeared on social media suggesting that the stadium that hosted the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations has further deteriorated.

The maintenance of the stadium over the years has been poor, rendering it unusable by clubs in the area.

Twifo Atti-Morkwa MP believes a lot of people in the area would have gone into sports if the stadium was in good shape.

“I wept when I saw the Essipong Stadium. The stadium has deteriorated and it’s rotten,” he told Asempa FM, as monitored by footballghana.com.

“There are young men and women walking around who doesn’t have any work to do. They love and would have wanted to go into Sports.

“If the facility is good, they would use it, but nobody is managing it.”
