I would have liked to sit on the bench in 2010 World Cup-Prince Tagoe

Former Black Stars striker Prince Tagoe has revealed that if he had the chance to turn back the clock, he would have opted to sit on the bench in the 2010 World Cup.

He gave this shocking statement because he felt that the role given to him at the time did not maximize his potential and would have rather wanted to play in his preferred striker role.

In the tournament, he was deployed on the wing whilst Asamoah Gyan was tasked with leading the line.

Tagoe mentioned on Joy FM that the tactical decision did not help him score more goals and that was the only regret he had from the tournament.

“If we turned back the time to the 2010 World cup, I would have told the coach to let me sit on the bench and come in when Asamoah Gyan was tired."

"When I looked at things, if I had been at the bench and come to play my real role, I could have also helped or maybe I could have come in and partnered Asamoah at the forward line in a two striker formation like the way we played in the U23. That is the only regret I had there.”
