Published on: 09 July 2023

Ghanaian youngster Ibrahim Sulemana is the first signing of Cagliari for the 2023/24 season. A young midfielder in whom the club has decided to invest.

The talented 20-year-old completed the move to the Cagliari from Hellas Verona last week, following an impressive season with Verona.

Signing a contract that will run until June 2027, with an option for an additional year, Sulemana turned down an approach from Bologna in favour of joining Cagliari.

PROFILE. Ibrahim Sulemana Kakari was born on May 22, 2003 in Sunyani, the capital of the Bono region of central-western Ghana. He was discovered by agent Oliver Artur during a scout event in his hometown, which allowed him to be selected among the few boys to be watched by some Italian clubs.

Atalanta was the first to believe in Ibrahim, who included him in their Under-17 team in 2019. However, a groin injury took him away from the Orobic club and Verona stepped forward.

After a decisive surgical operation, he successfully embarked on the path in the Verona Spring. The step towards the first team was a natural consequence. He made his Serie A debut on 9 October 2022, as a substitute against Salernitana, aged 19 years and 140 days.

FEATURES. Central midfielder with strong defensive attitudes, he has the right foot as his favorite foot. His best qualities are his tackling and ball recovery skills, as well as his assertiveness in the air. Physically solid, he is 180cm tall and weighs 78kg. He proposes himself as an element for "making wood" in the median, but with a qualitatively noteworthy technical base.

2022-23. With the Verona shirt, in the last season, he played 17 games, 7 of which as a starter. There were 737 minutes on the field for the young Ghanaian, making his debut in a first team. 4 yellow cards collected.
