The head coach of Basake Holy Stars, Abdulai Gazale has revealed the motivation behind his team’s victory over Hearts of Oak.
The newcomers defeated the Phobians 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in their first appearance in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking in a post-match interview, coach Abdulai Gazale disclosed that it was important to take all three points from Hearts of Oak due to the disrespect shown to his team.
He said Hearts of Oak underrated his side and got punished for it at the end of the close contest.
"They underrated us. When you even hear people's comments before the game… I saw comments on their flyer, saying we should come and collect goals. If you disrespect your opponents, they will discipline you,” Coach Abdulai Gazale said.
Following the defeat to Hearts of Oak, fans are calling for the immediate sacking of head coach Aboubakar Ouattara just one match into the new season.
