Karela United owner, Haruna Iddrisu has disclosed that he is currently footing the bills for the watering of the football pitch at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

This comes as a surprise when this should be the burden of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The NSA as custodians of the national stadia take money from clubs that use the various national stadia.

Part of that money is to be used to maintain the stadia including watering the pitches.

Appalled by the state of the pitch at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Haruna Iddrisu says he is now forced to pay to get the pitch watered.

“I’m struggling now to even get stadium for training and even for my matches. This weekend I’m playing the Porcupine Warriors (Kotoko). I have sent them to Nalerigu and they have already protested that the standard of the pitch is not good.

“Currently, Mr. Speaker I’m the one footing the bill to water the pitch. I’m the one doing it because of the state of the pitch. I need a Stadium for my matches and I don’t have it,” Haruna Iddrisu bemoaned.

Meanwhile, the Karela United bankroller has urged the Sports Minister to keep an eye on the Tamale Sports Stadium.
