Black Stars striker, Richmond Boakye Yiadom has issued an apology to Ghanaians for the team’s abysmal performance at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

According to him, just like every Ghanaian, he is heartbroken and disappointed the Black Stars could not advance past the group stage.

“It breaks my heart, we couldn’t live up to expectations at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. There is no excuse for our failure. We ask Ghanaians to forgive us and we will surely bounce back,” Richmond Boakye Yiadom said in a post on social media.

The Israel-based striker is one of 27 players that represented Ghana at the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

He scored in the third Group C game of the tournament when Ghana lost 3-2 to Comoros.

Unfortunately, a single point earned by the Black Stars was not enough to seal a place in the Round of 16.
