2023 AFCON Qualifiers: In-form Joseph Paintsil to dazzle Kumasi fans against Angola

Published on: 13 March 2023

Unstoppable Joseph Paintsil will have his chance to prove his doubters wrong in the next round of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The highly-rated forward was overlooked for a place in the national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup although he was in top form.

With coach Chris Hughton coming in as new Black Stars head coach, he has invited Joseph Paintsil for the next round of games in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The call-up to the national team has been embraced by Ghanaians who believe he was unfairly treated when he was left out of the World Cup squad.

This season, Joseph Paintsil has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists after making 25 appearances in the Belgian Pro League.

He is the top goal contributor for KRC Genk and has established himself as one of the best players in the Belgian top-flight league.

The forward is in the form of his life and is expected to show his worth when Ghana hosts Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, March 23.
