2023/24 Ghana Premier League week 29: Asante Kotoko 2-0 Legon Cities – Report

Asante Kotoko recorded a second win in their last three games following their 2-0 victory over Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon in match week 29 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

The win didn’t come without controversy, the first goal contentiously awarded through a penalty and the second a scrappy finish.

The win means Asante Kotoko move up the table by two places, now sitting in ninth with 40 points after starting the day in eleventh.

Meanwhile, the defeat means the Royals drop from tenth to eleventh with 38 points, the two sides swapping positions there.

Steven Mukwala gave Asante Kotoko the lead after 33 minutes when he converted from the spot following the awarding of a penalty that is up for debate.

The Legon Cities defender was deemed to have deliberately handled the ball on the on the line while falling, but it was not as clear.

Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen added the second for the home side just five minutes after the break from a scrappy finish. The game then ended with the 2-0 win for Kotoko.
