2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Libya-based forward Jonathan Sowah earns Black Stars invite for Mali and Central Africa Republic games

Libya-based Ghanaian forward Jonathan Sowah has reportedly been invited for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central Africa Republic.

The former Medeama attacker has been impressive since joining Libyan outfit Al Nasr during the January transfer window.

Sowah has been making waves in the Libyan top-flight, scoring five goals in six games for the club so far. He is currently the club’s joint topscorer in the ongoing campaign.

The former Ghana Premier League forward outstanding performance in Libya has earned a place in Otto Addo’s squad for the upcoming games.

Sowah earned his first national team invite during his spell with Medeama following an impressive performance in both Ghana Premier League and CAF Champions League.

He made his debut against Comoros, where the Black Stars succumbed to a 1-0 away defeat

Ghana will face Mali on June 6 at Bamako before hosting Central Africa Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10.

The West Africa powerhouse will be aiming to secure maximum in both games after a sloppy start to the qualifiers last year.

The Black Stars inflicted a 1-0 win over Madagascar before succumbing to a narrow defeat to Comoros. They are currently fourth on the table in Group I.
