Former Black Stars captain, John Mensah, has praised the national team's performances under Otto Addo.

After struggling to win games, the Black Stars recorded back-to-back wins against Mali and Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.

The former AFC Sunderland defender played with Addo at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Ghana’s first appearance at the competition and is confident Ghana is on the right track to make it to the 2026 edition under Addo.

“It’s not easy with the way the team was before he came and now he is managing to put the players back together as a unit and looking at the games they played in the qualifiers, I think they did very well," he told the media at the Ghana Football Awards held over the weekend in Accra.

"We all have to put our trust (in him) and support him and I think he will continue to do well," he added.

Otto Addo was reappointed earlier this year on an initial 34-month deal with an option of 24-month deal.

However, John Mensah also played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa during his time with the Black Stars.
