Mohammed Diomande, a Ghana-raised midfielder, has been called up by the Ivory Coast for the upcoming June World Cup qualifiers, marking his debut for the country of his birth.

The Ivorian Football Association successfully persuaded Diomande to represent the Ivory Coast, despite initial interest from Ghana. The young talent was contemplating playing for Ghana before the Ivorian FA intervened to secure his commitment.

Mohammed Diomande, who can also play as a winger, developed his skills at the renowned Right to Dream Academy in Ghana. Currently, he is plying his trade in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers, where he has been impressing as a young player with immense potential.

The Ivory Coast is set to face off against Gabon and Kenya in next month's World Cup qualifiers, and Mohammed Diomande's inclusion in the squad is expected to bolster their midfield.

Ivory Coast leads Group F with six points after two games.
