Maxwell Konadu's mandate is to secure promotion to the PSL – Black Leopards Chairman

The Chairman of Black Leopards, Tshifhiwa Thidiela, has revealed that the mandate for the club’s incoming head coach, Maxwell Konadu, is to ensure they gain promotion to the Professional Soccer League.

He also confirmed that the former Ghana assistant coach will sign a three-year deal to become the South African second tier club’s head coach.

Leopards suffered relegation from top-tier football in the 2020/21 season, with their fate sealed on the final day after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Cape Town City.

“We are confident that he will be able to do well. And it’s unfortunate or fortunate, the league that we’re playing in, that we only playing for one thing, one thing only which is for promotion.

“So that’s what the mandate is going to be, and that’s what we are all gunning for,” Tshifhiwa Thidiela told reporters on Tuesday.

Maxwell Konadu, who has vast experience coaching in Ghana with national teams and clubs, last coached Nsoatreman FC who he won the MTN FA Cup just over a week ago.

The former Black Stars assistant coach was set to lead the club to a first ever participation in the CAF Confederation Cup courtesy of their FA Cup victory.
