‘Mission accomplished’ – Ghana captain Andre Ayew reacts after Le Havre’s French Ligue 1 survival

Ghana international Andre Ayew has shared his excitement after helping Le Havre to escape relegation at the end of the French Ligue 1 campaign.

Le Havre suffered 2-1 defeat on home turf on the final day of the Frecnh Ligue 1 campaign on Sunday.

Despite the defeat, Le Havre have survived relegation and will continue in the top-flight on the upcoming campaign.

The Black Stars skipper, who joined Le Havre in November 2023 played a huge role to the club escape the drop at the end of the campaign.

However, he has taken to social media to express his joy after helping the club to maintain their status in Ligue 1.

“Mission accomplished @hac_foot Believe and never give up!! A beautiful atmosphere in our stadium. Thanks to the supporters for this party all together” he wrote on Instagram.

The 34-year-old Ghana forward scored five goals in 19 Ligue 1 games, emerging as the highest Ghanaian scorer in the top-flight in the just ended season.

In all competitions, Ayew scored six goals in 20 games for Le Havre.

He is expected to lead the Black Stars team ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central Africa Republic next month.
