Injury blow for Ghana as Christian Atsu limps off in Cameroon match

The Blacks Stars have been dealt another setback following Christian Atsu’s injury which has forced him to be substituted in Ghana’s second Group F match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon today.

The Newcastle United winger after starting the match in a lively manner could not cross the 15-minute mark as he picked up what appears to be a hamstring injury.

The player raced through the middle of the park to the edge of the opposition’s 18-yard box before firing a shot which missed the right post by a whisker. After the shot though, he felt some discomfort and fell to the ground holding the back of his thigh.

Though he tried to stay on and play through the injury, the pain aggravated a couple of minutes later and he had to be substituted on the 13th minute.

Ghana’s injury toll has now gone up to two with Thomas Agyepong already nursing an injury he picked up during the Black Stars opening match against Benin last Tuesday.
