The Colombia midfielder is expected to leave Real this summer - with Manchester United his favoured destination.

However, local pundit Eduardo Inda confirmed on El Chiringuito that Ronaldo is trying to convince James to stay.

He revealed: "There has been pressure on James Rodríguez to stay. Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo asked him not to leave, but he told them he did not want to stay because another player will come for his position.

"As much as it is said that Manchester United is the closest to get James Rodriguez, it's really Chelsea where he could end up."
