Inter close in on Real Madrid amongst Europe’s highest average attendances

Inter are the only Italian club to feature in the top 10 teams with the highest average attendance, with new data revealing the Biscione are closing in on a top five spot.

Rejuvenated under coach Luciano Spalletti, the Nerazzurri sit in third place in Serie A and the feel-good factor around the club has translated to the terraces, with huge attendances at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

According to findings by Transfermarkt.com, Inter have the sixth highest average attendance in the continent with 63,869 supporters flocking to the watch the club, just shy of the 65,263 reeled in by Champions League holders Real Madrid.

Inter have stepped ahead of Champions League Group B rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but remain some way behind leaders Barcelona, who have averaged 77,506 fans at Camp Nou this season.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Bayern Munich round off the top five respectively, ahead of Real Madrid.

Across eight home games this term, Inter have drawn in a total of 510,955 supporters to the 80,018 capacity Giuseppe Meazza.
