Inter Milan Reportedly Set to Make Astonishing £58m Bid for PSG Midfielder Marco Verratti

Published on: 31 October 2016

Inter Milan are believed to be lining up a staggering £58m move for Paris Saint-German's Marco Verratti.

The news comes courtesy of Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, which claims that the Italian giants are set to offer a sizable sum of money to bring the midfielder to Italy's top flight.

Verratti has been linked with big money moves to other European heavyweights such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich after PSG reportedly said the 23-year-old would be allowed to leave the club, but it is Inter who are rumoured to be leading the race to prise Verratti away from the Ligue 1 champions.

The Italy international had only recently revealed that he had turned down a move to La Liga with Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, but his comments have done little to allay the rumour mill from spurning more speculation regarding his future with PSG.

Verratti said: It's not that I technically turned Real Madrid down, it's that when I am happy in a team, I don't even want to begin negotiations with another club.

I learned of Real Madrid interest and that was pleasing, because it doesn't happen every day that Real Madrid ask after you, but when I'm happy at a side, I don't want to change. I want to win something with this shirt.

Any potential departure from the Parc des Princes, however, is reportedly set to rely on Unai Emery's men receiving either Geoffrey Kondogbia or Marcelo Brozovic from I Nerazzurri as a makeweight in any possible transfer, and it remains to be seen whether Inter would want to lose out on making any money out of selling one of the pair in the current market.

Verratti was talked up over leaving PSG by his agent Donato Di Campli over the weekend, who stated that his client could depart if criticism from the media over his performances for the French club continued in the future.

He said: "Verratti wants to win with PSG. However, if these attacks against him from the French Press continue, Marco and I will make our evaluations and he could even leave Paris."

Verratti joined PSG from Pescara for around £10m four seasons ago, and has gone on to make 170 appearances and lift 13 pieces of silverware during that time.
