Both clubs have threatened to sue the other over the transfer, and it appears neither is willing to let the matter drop.

While Modric was busy being named Champions League Player of the Season at the group stage draw on Thursday, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez continued his attack on Inter.

“They [Inter] wanted to take our No.10 without paying for him!” he told reporters. “I’ve never seen anything like it in the 30 years of my career.”

The news wasn’t met with enthusiasm by Inter, as Vice-President Javier Zanetti made it clear the club will respond to the matter if needed.

“I haven’t heard what Perez said,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We’ll read them and deal with them in the proper channels.”

Thursday’s draw saw Inter put in Group B with Barcelona, Tottenham and PSV, while Real Madrid are in Group G with Roma, CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen.
