Interim Manager Craig Shakespeare Admits He Is Interested in the Leicester City Job Full Time

Leicester interim boss Craig Shakespeare has admitted he is keen on the role full time after he led the Foxes to a first Premier League win in 2017 as they beat Liverpool 3-1.

He says he remains unfazed by the prospect of succeeding Claudio Ranieri permanently and believes he can perform in the role as Leicester clawed their way out of the bottom three.

A Jamie Vardy brace either side of Danny Drinkwater's stunning volley ensured Shakespeare got off to the best possible start after a morale-draining few days following Ranieri's dismissal.

Shakespeare told Sky Sports after the well-deserved win, as per Daily Mail: "My remit was one game, that's what I said. Can I do the job? I think I can. Does it faze me? No.

"I've enjoyed it. I've been an assistant manager for a long time. Having to deal with the press has been different but I've quite enjoyed it.

"It's only one game and I'm humble enough to know that. We have to make sure the owners do the right thing for the club. I'm just pleased for everybody.

"I thought the fans got behind the players, and they responded."

Leicester's owners have stated that they're eager to find a replacement as soon as possible and with a rather small pool of managers to choose from this late into the campaign, Shakespeare offers a very viable option.

The players are clearly familiar with his presence and after Monday night's performance it seems clear they are willing to give maximum effort.

Why they didn't do this under Ranieri this season is beyond anyone's guess, but Leicester simply have to forget the past and concentrate on their current plight.
