Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara has attributed the club's poor campaign last season to internal issues.

The Phobian Club endured a challenging campaign and finished on the 14th place with 45 points after a hard-fought win to escape relegation on the final day against Bechem United.

Ouattara's tenure began with promising performances, but his team faced significant struggles later in the season.

"Last season, our problems began after the game against Bofoakwa Tano at WAFA Park," Ouattara stated. "The issues were internal, within the playing body itself, not with the board or management."

The Ivorian manager also disclosed that conflicts among players and between the technical team and the squad intensified after a tough match against Samartex, which also saw the resignation of the club’s goalkeeper coach.

"We’re working to resolve it,” Ouattara added. "Sometimes it’s personal problems between the technical team and the players and also among the players themselves. The resignation of the goalkeeper coach made things worse."

Reflecting on the experience, Ouattara emphasized that overcoming such challenges is part of the growth process.

"Experience is not always about the good, but sometimes about the bad. I try to find solutions and move forward."

Hearts of Oak are currently improving their squad and will hope to improve their performance in the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
