Division One side Sekondi Hasaacas over the weekend pipped past Rail stars by a lone goal at the Gyandu park in a club friendly.

Isaac Mensah slotted in from close range in the second half to secure a 1-0 win to break the unbeaten run of Rail Stars FC.

With six different changes on the day, Coach JAJ tried out a 3-5-2 system against attacking minded, Rail Stars side that saw the chunk of the ball on the day.

Ibrahim Sanah after being on the sidelines for 355 days had his first game for Sekondi Hasaacas FC. Michael Kwofie, 15, was handed his first start in post since April 2018, ahead of Anthony Brebo and John Arthur Kassilas.

The rain slowed down to a faint drizzle on the day, setting up a very good atmosphere for a fixture which was witnessed by a fair number of spectators.

Hasmal took the lead after kick off and created some decent goalscoring chances.

Despite Rail Stars seeing the chunk of the ball, it was Hasmal that threatened in front of goal on numerous occasions.

George Ekow Annan came pretty close to goal, but his shot narrowed off target after receiving a defense splitting pass from John Koomson.

The real scare came when Ibrahim Sanah bent a free kick over the wall which nearly put us 1-0 ahead.

David Nyankum and Isaac Mensah had their efforts travel inches off target, we kept pressing for the opener.

Ibrahim Sanah was in his toolsy best. Mostly, they[Rail Stars] were on him like kids on Santa anytime he had his foot to the ball and mainly prompted most of the clear cut opportunities on the day.

The best chance on the day fell on the path of Isaac Mensah, just 11 minutes into the second half, after the crossbar had turned the second goalkeeper for Rail Stars and denied Fuseini Issaka’s strike, the rebound was whacked in nicely by the 10 shirted Mensah. Mensah’s 4th in the last 4 games.

Minutes later, David Nyankum saw his effort leap just off target, that should have been the cushioning.

Rail Stars threw more men forward in a bid to level up the game, yet try as they did, their attacks were flawed by the trio of Yahaya Seidu, William Enchill and Jay Kola Asamoah.

The Sekondi based side managed a 1-0 win against Rail Stars FC in the end.

Hasmal have taken their winning streak to 4 games, scoring 17 and conceding 4 goals.
