Issah Abass named in Liga Portugal's team of the week

Ghanaian forward Issah Abass has been named in Sofascore's Liga Portugal team of the week for his fantastic effort in Chaves's draw with Santa Clara.

Abass came off the bench to score for GD Chaves against Santa Clara in round 29 of the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Sunday.

As in the previous weekend's game against Benfica, where he scored the winner after coming off the bench, Abass once again scored late in the game at Estadio de Sao Miguel.

The former Black Meteors attacker, who is 24 years old, was brought on 6 minutes after the hour mark to replace Bernardo Sousa, with the game still tied at 0-0.

He scored in the 83rd minute, sweeping in from the penalty area without obstruction. However, Chaves' lead did not last as the home side equalized three minutes later through Bruno Jordao.

There was a moment of madness in the game as Guima was sent off in additional time for an argument that resulted in him getting booked in quick succession.

The point from the game takes Chaves to 10th place, while Santa Clara remain at the bottom of the league.

Issah Abass has featured in 21 league games for Chaves, scoring four times.
