It is exciting to score in the French Ligue 1, says Le Havre forward, Andre Ayew

Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, says he is happy to score again in the French Ligue 1 after an eight-year absence.

The 33-year-old scored a brace in Le Havre’s 3-3 draw with Lorient in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon.

Ayew scored with a header in the 85th minute and delivered a bicycle kick finish in the 94th minute to tie the game.

The goals were Ayew’s first since joining Le Havre as a free agent late in 2023.

Ayew last played in the French Ligue 1 for Olympique de Marseille before moving to English Premier League side Swansea City in June 2015.

Speaking in the post-game presser, “It’s pleasing to score again in the Ligue 1. I had been waiting for that moment since I came back.”

Ayew’s brace comes on the back of a disappointing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) run in Cote D’Ivoire that had Ghana crash out of the group stage without registering a win in three games.

The results leave Le Havre at the 11th position on the league log with 23 points. Andre will hope to continue his impressive run when they travel to play AS Monaco on Sunday at the Stade Louis II.
