Nora Hauptle, head coach of Ghana’s women’s national team, the Black Queens, has said it is good her side can still win games without necessarily playing beautiful football all the time.

The Swiss manager is saying after her charges had to dig deep to get a later winner against the Senegalese women’s national team on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium in an international friendly.

Evelyn Badu took down a pass inside the box and fired in in the 84th minute to give the Black Queens a 1-0 win over the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal in the second of their doubleheader friendlies.

Speaking after the game, Nora Hauptle commended Senegal for a good game while acknowledging that the Black Queens deserved to win.

"I think, all in all, in the end, we deserved this victory, we also need to give respect to Senegal.

"I think we had the patience also; we knew we have quality, and in the end, sometimes you play not so beautifully, but you still win, and this is very important."
