Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingson, says it will give him joy to see his players play for European giants like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The former Ghana international was appointed permanent coach of the Ghana U17 national team to replace Karim Zito who he was assistant coach to at first.

Speaking on his appointment, Laryea Kingston said he was ready and wouldn’t work hard to get his players play for top teams.

“I have what it takes. I've been in an environment that I've developed elite players that are playing in top level,” Laryea said.

“So for me, me coming around, I want tomorrow someone will say, okay, this player is playing in Real Madrid, in Barcelona. They were in the national under-17 team in 2025 and that one will give me joy.”

The Black Starlets are in Russia participating in a UEFA 16 tournament where they lost their opening game to Russia and beat Serbia 5-1 in the second on Friday.

The tournament forms part of Ghana's preparations for the 2024 WAFU B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be staged in Accra.
