Director-General of National Sports Authority Mr. Peter Twumasi says it is a joke Accra Sports Stadium doesn’t meet the criteria of the club licensing committee of the Ghana Football Association.

The Accra Sports stadium together with the Baba Yara Stadium were rejected as venues for the 20212022 Ghana Premier League season.

The decisions were taken based on the reports received from the Club Licensing Manager from the inspection visits across the various venues.

"Both Kumasi and Accra stadia are certified and match the global standard for teams to use," Twumasi told Accra based Angel FM

"It is a joke to tell me Accra sports stadium doesn’t meet the criteria to play a football match on, I don’t think anybody will believe this story.

"They inspected the facility without our notice, even CAF which is an international body informed us before inspecting it for Hearts games."

Four venues namely; WAFA Park, Aliu Mahama Stadium, Cape Coast, and the Len Clay Stadium have been granted conditional approval pending the correction and or defects as stated in the inspection reports by October 18, 2021.

Meanwhile, 15 Clubs have had their Main venues conditionally rejected pending a re-inspection to ascertain the status of recommendations as instructed in the decisions of the Club Licensing Committee.

The Club Licensing Committee will be making final decisions on the venues after the final inspection on October 18, 2021.
