It’s likely I may drop all the fasting boys - Dreams FC coach Karim Zito

Dreams FC coach Karim Zito has disclosed that it is likely he may drop all players partaking in Ramadan.

Millions of Muslims worldwide have been observing Ramadan, the Islamic period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, since it started at the beginning of April.

During Ramadan, those partaking must not eat or drink anything during daylight hours.

Speaking after their victory over Kotoku Royals in the MTN FA Cup, coach Zito said, "“Half of my players are fasting and you know how this fasting is."

"We use to fast and play but today science tells you it’s very dangerous, the player can tell you he wants to play but I have also learnt a lesson from it.

"It’s likely I may drop all the fasting boys and use those who are not involved. You saw that the second half we were a little bit down till I made changes."

Dreams FC made history by reaching the semi-final of the 2021/22 MTN FA Cup for the first time.

The Dawu-based side defeated  lower-tier side Kotoku Royals 2-1 to achieve the remarkable feat in front of their home fans at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday.

They will face the winner between holders Hearts of Oak and Skyy FC.
