'I've Never Seen Paul Scholes Smile' - TV Anchor Reveals Man Utd Legend Is Grumpy Off Camera as Well

Published on: 13 December 2016

For someone who won 11 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, three FA Cups and countless other trophies during an illustrious career, while now making money post-playing days in the relatively stress-free environment of television punditry, you'd think that Manchester United legend Paul Scholes would have a lot to smile about.

Except, apparently, he never does, according to BT Sport colleague Jake Humphrey.

Since hanging up his boots, Scholes, who famously hated giving interviews and generally speaking to the media when he was still playing, has made a name for himself as 'the grumpy one' covering games for BT and ITV - he's especially critical where his old team is concerned.

And now, BT anchor Humphrey has revealed exactly what it's like workingwith him.

"He arrives as late as possible, looks as disinterested as possible¦and then delivers some amazing, wonderful, brilliant, aggressive, scathing lines on the telly," the presenter told the Daily Mirror.

"I don't think I've ever seen Paul Scholes smile. I think the only time Paul Scholes smiles is when it's time for us to all go home. He's only happy then!" he laughed.
