J.A Kufuor showed us love and respect during our Black Stars days - Stephen Appiah

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has expressed gratitude to former Ghana leader, J.A Kufuor for the massive support he gave them during their Black Stars days.

The Black Stars secured its first World Cup qualification under J.A Kufuor in 2006 and made a meaningful impact at their debut appearance at the biggest soccer mundial.

Appiah, who was the captain at the time has been appointed as the ambassador for the upcoming J.A Kufuor Cup.

At the launch of the Cup competition aimed at honouring the former president, the former Juventus and Fenerbache star promised to contribute towards the success of the J.A Kufuor Cup.

The game, which will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium will see Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC battle it out for the trophy.

According to Appiah, the former president showed the Black Stars team love and respect during their playing days and has promised to repay him by contributing his quota towards to success of the J.A Kufuor Cup.

“We all know who J.A Kufuor is, when I was the captain of the national team, he was the president. He showed us so much love and respect so anything that he does in terms of football or in any field and I’m called to support, I can’t say no because he has been there for some of us. I’m happy to be the ambassador for J.A Kufuor Cup” he said.
