Jack Cork Backs Icelandic Star to Save Swansea From Relegation in Final Weeks of the Season

Swansea City midfielder Jack Cork believesIcelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is the man to save Swansea City from relegation this season.

The 27-year old is in a rich vein of form, scoring three goals in his last three matches, including the goal at Manchester City which tied the game at 1-1.His tally of nine goals for the season has seen Sigurdsson become crucial to any chance the Swans have of staying up.

Midfielder Cork is so convinced of the striker's abilities that he is encouraging his team-mates to utilise the top-scorer as much as possible, according tothe Daily Star.

Cork said: "Gylfi is amazing anywhere near the box. In the second half we managed to change everything. He put it between the player's legs and then sent the keeper the wrong way. You know when he is in that position that he will do something. He's lethal from that range."

Talking about the recent defeat to Manchester City, the Swansea captain stated: "It's gutting for us because it's the second year in a row that we've lost like this at Manchester City. It was a harsh result - I felt we deserved a point, but it wasn't to be."

"Everyone trusts each other and knows if they go into a position then someone will cover them. We needed that with the amount of pressure we are under."

Cork concluded by pointing out "We have started the new year well, and we need to kick on against Leicester on Sunday."

Certainly after the Foxes recent defeat and the murmurings of discontent coming out of the King Power Stadium, Swansea will be trying to pile more pressure on the current Premier League Champions.

Whatever happens, Paul Clement will be hoping that his leading goal-scorer can maintain his current goal-scoring form.
