Jan Gyamerah hopes Hamburger SV doesn't fall further down the league table

Hamburger SV is threatening to lose a good starting position in the promotion of the second Bundesliga for the third time in a row. Should the team also lose at Jahn Regensburg on Sunday, there is a risk of falling to fifth place in the table. Jan Gyamerah, however, retains his optimism.

In his opinion, the fact that the defender's team repeatedly received football hits in the pit of the stomach has hardened them.

"I think we have already proven many times this season that we can come back. We would have liked to have done without these setbacks, but we just have a great team spirit," Gyamerah said in the monthly magazine HSVlive. The good atmosphere in the team ensures the cohesion that should make the difference to the competition at the end of the season.

"We've seen it differently with opposing teams this season. They insulted each other after making mistakes and pulled each other down. We don't have anything like that," explains Gyamerah. Should the success in the final sprint fail, the media and commentators could of course interpret this to HSV negatively and castigate a comfort zone in which there was not enough friction. But the 25-year-old prefers to focus on the idea of success.

"I would be really looking forward to the next: How we march together and celebrate together. That drives me incredibly," says Gyamerah. Whether after the 34th matchday against Eintracht Braunschweig or as a result of the relegation, the native of Berlin wants to celebrate as well as the then applicable Corona regulations allow with his HSV colleagues. "I want us to really accelerate and lay the foundations for it. I think we would have a lot of fun with this team," speculated Gyamerah.
