Jan Molby Insists Liverpool Will Beat Man Utd if They Simply Continue What They've Been Doing

Liverpool legend Jan Molby has insisted that his former club will have no problem beating Manchester United in Monday night's hotly anticipated clash at Anfield as long as the Reds keep playing as they have been in recent weeks.

"As far as I'm concerned, if Liverpool get their house in order, then they win the game," Molby told the Liverpool Echo.

"There's no better feeling as a player heading into such a crunch fixture with the knowledge if you play to your best, you have a great chance of winning," he added.

"We aren't reliant on United having a bad day or some good fortune. We know if we perform in the same manner we have this campaign, we will be very difficult to beat."

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side have won all of their last four Premier League games after overcoming an early season blip against Burnley and currently lead United by three points in the table.

Molby also hopes that beyond recent form, the first clash with United since the redevelopment of Anfield's Main Stand was completed will give Liverpool an advantage as well.

"This is the first night game at the new-look Anfield. There'll be almost 10,000 extra people in the stadium, and all of them will be Liverpool fans," he said.

"There's a new feel to the Main Stand. There are a lot of fresh faces there, whereas the stand used to be full of people who'd been going to the game for 30 or 40 years. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's great there's a renewed vibe around Anfield.

"Playing under the floodlights always creates a bit more of a special atmosphere, but in truth this is a game that really doesn't need any extra spice.

"It's always bubbling under, and that's why Liverpool's players have to be careful. Rest assured, the first crunching tackle on a United player and the whole of Anfield will be on its feet."

Speaking on Liverpool's starting goalkeeper for the game, he added:"Klopp faces a decision over who to play in goal, but I would be amazed if Simon Mignolet is recalled.

"What would be the point of giving Loris Karius a run in the side if you're already thinking about bringing Mignolet back for a big game?Mind you, I can't blame Mignolet for talking up his own chances. He's clearly eager to play “ and you can bet he'll be ready."
