Swansea City have confirmed through theirofficial websitethat Jefferson Montero is to see a specialist, after fracturing a bone in his hand during Swansea's 3-1 loss against Manchester United on Sunday.

Montero, who was making only his fifth league appearance of the season following a calf injury, sustained the fracture in a fallduring the game.

Having flown out to Ecuador, to represent his national side, it was the national team's doctor who made the discovery following an x-ray.

The 27-year-oldis now on his way back to Swansea, after being excused from international duty, where the club doctors will assess whether he is able to play with a cast.

Swansea will be hoping that Montero will be ready for action as soon as possibleas they look to get their season back on track.

Sitting 19th in the table with only five points and one win, the Welsh side will be relying on Montero to provide the attacking threat that they are desperately needing.

The Swans find themselves as the joint second lowest scoring team. Having spent a combined£20m on strikers Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston over the summer, new manager Bob Bradley will need to quickly find a system to suit his new recruits.

Without changeSwansea could find themselves in the same league position come the end of the season.

Montero isn't the only winger Swansea are hoping can make a return soon, as Premier League winner Nathan Dyer is also nearing a return following an injury sustained in mid September.

It will be interesting to see if Swansea can turn their season around once their two explosive wingers are back in action.

Dyer and Montero getting injured hasn't helped us at all tbh

Nate's experience would've gone a long way and Jeff is just...
