Jeffrey Schlupp nears January Leicester exit after Ranieri confirms he will not stop him

Claudio Ranieri says he will not stop Ghanaian wing-back Jeffrey Schlupp or striker Leonardo Ulloa from quitting EPL champions Leicester City in January.

The Leicester squad players have both missed out on new contracts following Leicester’s shock title success and have struggled for first team action.

West Brom remain keen on Schlupp, 23, and Sunderland and Swansea both like centre-forward Ulloa,30.

Foxes boss Ranieri said: “I understand them.

“Always I say to my players it is important to stay together but if they don’t feel good because they want more it is important to speak and look what is the best for the club, the team and themselves.”

Ranieri says he is prepared to sell the pair even though Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez are both likely to be missing in January with Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He added: “I understand it is not possible to retain one or two players only because there is the Africa Nations Cup.”
